Reports to: Plastics Assembly Manager

Summary
The Assembly Specialist is responsible for supporting the Bumper Assembly process and related improvements, managing work instructions, leading projects to improve assembly processes, and analyzing trending data to improve quality.
Essential Functions
– Create and manage controlled documents (work instructions, control plans, etc.)
– Perform audits relating to correct product specification and materials used
– Assist with new projects and/or part changes, with focus on developing work process and layout
– Assist supervisors with Team Member training
– Collect and analyze defect data
– Prepare reports showing trend, history, etc. as needed
– Take measures to improve part quality (root cause investigation) and prepare countermeasures for issues
– Manage tools, supplies, machinery, and other equipment used in processes
– Develop and lead projects to improve current processes (eliminating waste, reducing costs, and quality improvement)
– Comply with and promote safety in the workplace
– All other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 or more years of experience in automotive manufacturing
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Good written and verbal communication skills
Organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Education & Experience
Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology or related field
Experience in assembly processes
Working Conditions
60% on production floor, 40% office
Lifting 20-30 lbs.
Traversing around production floor
Operating department-specific tools
Ascending/descending ladders
40 hours/week on night shift (5 p.m.-2 a.m.)
Overtime as needed
Working 1-2 Saturdays/month or as needed
