Human Resources Representative - Algonquin Power/Liberty Utilities - Columbus, GA





Mandate: The Human Resources Representative is responsible for a broad range of support to the Manager of Human Resources by providing direction and assistance in the application of required HR processes and objectives for all managers and employees within the Georgia Region. The HR Representative will assist with administering of all day-to-day HR activities including, recruitment, affirmative action, benefits, and communication of information. The HR Representative will work closely with all departments to provide effective guidance and support to ensure policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Job Functions:
Assists department in carrying out various human resource programs for employee and retiree policies and procedures, benefits and programs.

Responds to manager, employee and retiree questions; research or resolve issue.

Participates in Recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt positions and when necessary, works with temporary agencies to recruit temporary employees.

Schedules background checks, drug and alcohol testing and conducts On-boarding/New Hire Orientation and exit interviews.

Prepares data for Affirmative Action requirements; maintains other records, reports and logs pertaining to applicant flow procedures.

Enters new employee data and changes in People Power/HRIS system to maintain accurate employee information

Processes and tracks FMLA absences to ensure federal compliance.

Monitors employee benefit plan records, submits invoices to Finance Department for vendor payment.

Coordinates annual open enrollment for benefits in collaboration with corporate office

Coordinates company functions, wellness programs, training sessions and rewards program

Performs HRIS Timekeeper Admin functions. Performs specified payroll functions.

Maintains employment and other personnel records, including timely and accurate update of electronic applicant and employee information.

Maintains employee and retiree information in various programs and databases.

Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field; or 3 years of college level courses in related field.

Required 3 to 5 years of work experience in Human Resources with advanced knowledge of specific operational practices.

Strong attention to detail and advanced skill level experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point programs.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Good interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with various levels of staff.

Must maintain a high level of confidentiality

Must be multi-task oriented, with excellent organizational skills

Must maintain professional conduct and appearance.

Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations

May be required to travel to other Liberty Utility locations within Georgia.
