United States of America: International HR Specialist


In support of the Medical Teams International mission, this key hands-on role is responsible for ensuring the continuous improvement and seamless integration of all HR practices throughout MTI’s international operations. Areas of involvement may include any or all of the following: communication, legal compliance, benefits, compensation, recruitment, and employee relations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Identifies highest priority international HR-related needs and works with HQ and field offices to design, recommend, and implement solutions.

  • Serves as day-to-day interface between HQ and field offices in regard to HR matters.

  • Serves as HQ HR resource for field office HR personnel (e.g., core values, policies, employee relations, compensation, local labor law)

  • Coordinates all HQ HR activity (e.g., compensation, benefits, labor law compliance) pertaining to the opening of a new field office.

  • Ensures that field office HR policies and practices are kept current.

  • Ensures that compensation & benefits plans meet local needs and are kept current and cost effective.

  • Partners with compliance department in periodically conducting audits of international HR operations.

  • Monitors and analyzes field office turnover and other key metrics and makes recommendations as necessary.

  • Coordinates HR activity pertaining to international emergency response.

  • Serves as in-house resource pertaining to visa matters and TCN/expat employment.

  • Stays abreast of current trends and developments in field office countries; assesses their impact on MTI HR operations, and makes recommendations as necessary.

  • Contribute to US HR activities in any one or more of the following areas: compensation, employment law compliance, benefits administration, training & development, employee relations.

  • May coordinate and/or provide training to field staff regarding HR policies and best practices.

  • May serve as HQ point person for medical evacuation events.

  • Incorporate volunteers into duties whenever possible.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree required. Human resources major, or similar, preferred.

  • PHR, SPHR, GPHR preferred.

EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in human resources.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in international HR.

  • In-depth experience working with labor laws outside the United States.

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
