ABOUT AMERICARES
Passion and Purpose.
AmeriCares is an emergency response and global health organization that saves lives and builds healthier futures for people in crisis in the U.S. and around the world. Every day, AmeriCares puts critically needed medicines and supplies in the hands of frontline health workers and develops innovative, sustainable health improvements in their communities. We are the leading nonprofit for delivering donated medicines and medical supplies to health programs around the world. We leverage this core competency with emergency preparedness, response and recovery efforts, and programs that improve health outcomes. Our programs increase access to care in more than 90 countries every year.
POSITION SUMMARY
Every day, AmeriCares works to strengthen the health systems that serve children and families. Our most significant asset in this work is our Access to Medicines program that secures and distributes more than $600 million worth of donated medicines and supplies to 3,500 hospitals, clinics, social service organizations, and other local institutions focused on improving health in communities affected by disaster or poverty in some 90 countries annually, including the United States. The Supply Chain Program Manager will play a vital role in improving access to medicines for many through bolstering local capacity to serve their communities.
The Supply Chain Program Manager will work to strengthen medical supply chain management programs in targeted countries – Liberia, the Philippines and El Salvador. Each country program will represent a different model of support: 1) El Salvador will focus on supply chain activities from AmeriCares partners to their subrecipient institutions; 2) Liberia will focus on supply chain activities in the public health system; and 3) the Philippines will represent a pilot for AmeriCares own emergency response activities (with potential relevance/replicability of output at other AmeriCares field office locations). The Manager will be responsible for assessing in-country supply chain requirements, capabilities and infrastructure to first define a problem statement for each location. Subsequently, the Supply Chain Program Manager will also be responsible for creating and executing the project/program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation through coordinated support of in-country team members, partners and AmeriCares headquarters staff.
