General Description
The International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) in the Department of International Health at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHBSPH) is seeking a Research Project Coordinator to assist in the evaluation of the impact of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) introduction on various measures of disease outcomes. The project is a comprehensive technical (quantitative and descriptive) systematic review and analysis of the published and unpublished data on PCV dosing schedules and PCV products, assessing their immunogenicity and effect on NP colonization, disease and mortality, as well as describing the epidemiologic setting in which PCV was evaluated. The project will deliver a range of outputs, including but not limited to peer-reviewed publications, country-driven technical reports and policy guidance documents and presentations/reports of the analysis to the World Health Organization (WHO) and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and other stakeholders in the field of pneumococcal vaccines. The project will provide the evidence necessary to inform countries using and/or planning to introduce PCV into their national programmes on the impact of licensed PCV products on the aforementioned outcomes of interest.
The Project is part of an umbrella project co-lead by WHO, the PCV Technical Coordination Project, which aims to fulfill the important need for coordination in the PCV field and technical community in order to enable real time consideration and response to urgent issues related to PCVs as they arise by facilitating the conduct, review and interpretation of published and unpublished data to enhance the collective understanding of the evidence on impact and performance of PCVs; and strategically assessing priorities across contributing organizations and key stakeholders in the PCV field. Collaborators include colleagues at WHO and the CDC. Support for these projects comes from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
The PCV Impact Systematic Review project team consists of experts in the fields of pneumococcal disease, immunology, epidemiology and vaccines, library science professionals, data analysts and other coordinators. While project oversight is maintained at JHBSPH, some members of the project team are located off-site in Geneva, Paris, London and Atlanta.
Position summary:
The Research Project Coordinator will assist the Principal Investigators and PCV Technical Coordination Project Manager in management of daily activities of the systematic review. The Research Project Coordinator will be responsible for tracking project activities and ensuring the project is on course and will meet deadlines. Responsibilities will include refining and updating data abstraction instruments, managing a team of data abstractors, coordinating the work of the team and the outcomes they are responsible for, organizing data in a standardized format, contacting and following-up with external investigators for data requests, conducting quality checks of the data, conducting basic analyses, summarizing data in tables and figures, producing slides for presentations and coordinating the effort to produce a set of approximately 8 publications for a peer review journal supplement.
This position requires a person with excellent organizational and project management skills, capable of working with a broad range of partners, experience in data management and analysis, excellent communication and organizational skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. The position will be located on the East Baltimore JHSPH campus within IVAC. The position may require travel to and from Geneva, Switzerland for presentation of results and various meetings with project staff. The position would require a one-year commitment, with possibility for extension.
The position would provide opportunities for publication, participation in high-level meetings, professional development and networking with various technical experts. Opportunity for extension of position at IVAC would be possible and depends on the skills and contribution of the individual as well as organizational needs.

Examples of specific essential duties & responsibilities include:
Contribute to the project work plan, track project activities and monitor progress according to plans Coordinate project implementation, including of team members to complete tasks as assigned and tracking the progress on milestones and timelines.
Overall coordination of team member communication including convening, determining agenda and leading regular conference calls.
Overall coordination of data abstractors (JHU students), including regular contact to address issues.
Overall coordination and organization of documents related to the project.
Coordination of key meetings for expert review, contributors, and stakeholders.
Generate project presentations, data outputs, written reports and deliverables as needed.
Perform data management and data cleaning activities. Perform data analysis under supervision of project coordinator and analysis team.
Coordinate data analyses conducted across all team members.
Travel domestically/internationally, as required, up to 10 percent to meet with project team members off-site or to attend scientific meetings.
Perform other tasks as assigned related to the successful completion of the project.
Perform other tasks as a member of the IVAC family as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline. Three years related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Project management skills and ability to work in a project milestone framework.
Demonstrated problem solving and analytic skills.
Highly organized.
Self-directed and self-motivated.
Experience working with diverse range of team members.
Strong oral and written communication and mature interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with data management and analysis.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in related field preferred (i.e. MSPH, MHS or MPH)
Experience with SAS, STATA, or R statistical software preferred.
Experience with systematic reviews and literature database software preferred.
