Description:


The Technical Officer I will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the Technical Quality and Technical Assistance (TQTA) portfolio in order to enhance the quality and effectiveness of public health programs. Additionally, the Technical Officer I will work with technical experts from across the Program Sciences department to contribute to business development and technical support activities.


Job Summary / Responsibilities:


  • Provides technical support and guidance to Program Sciences staff and staff in regional/country offices.

  • Supports the management of the Technical Quality and Technical Assistance (TQTA) initiative through the planning, monitoring, and follow-up of technical strengthening initiatives.

  • Assists and gives guidance with development of proposals.

  • Contributes to the development of technical documents, including case studies, technical briefs, curricula, fact sheets, and manuscripts.

  • Supports efforts to enhance the sharing of information and experiences among Global Health Population and Nutrition (GHPN) programs.

  • Reviews and analyzes program data to identify gaps, monitor program implementation and share lesson learned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Public Health, Human Development, International Development, Social Sciences or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job.


  • Working knowledge of global public health concepts and practices, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency with database management software and on-line search tools required.

  • Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.

  • Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. Fluency in French and/or Portuguese a plus.

  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite required.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.

  • Ability to problem solve and implements corrective action as needed.
