You will perform a full range of standard and nonstandard clerical work. As such, you will perform a variety of record keeping, reporting, and informational duties in support of the office s programs. You will compile, maintain and update data, lists and reports; update manuals on policies, directives and memoranda; and open, sort and route correspondence. Additionally, you will perform other miscellaneous duties such as typing simple copies of forms and requests for supplies or services; performing simple data entry; making travel plans; and maintaining time and attendance reports.

In this position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include:


Performing a variety of recordkeeping, reporting and data maintenance and updates


Updating manuals on policies, directives and memoranda


Opening, sorting and routing correspondence


Performing miscellaneous duties such as making travel plans and maintaining time and attendance reports

Qualifications


GS-03: You qualify at the GS-03 level if you possess six months of progressively responsible general clerical, office, or other work experience performing simple clerical tasks such as filing, answering phones, and preparing simple documents.


GS-04: You qualify at the GS-4 level if you possess one year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that included performing simple clerical tasks such as filing, answering phones, and preparing simple documents.


You must meet all qualification requirements, including education, if applicable, subject to verification at any stage of the application process by Wednesday, June 08, 2016.


Experience refers to paid and unpaid

experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs

(e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;

philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer

work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide

valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer

experience.


GS-03: One academic year above high school in any

field from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience

required at this level. One year of

full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.


GS-04: An Associate’s degree or successful completion

of two academic years above high school in any field in an accredited business,

secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university may

substitute for the experience required at this level. One year of full time of academic study is

defined as 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.

Combining Experience and Education : To combine

your education and experience, convert each to a percentage and then add the

percentages. If your education is described

in quarter hours, multiply by the fraction 2/3 to convert into semester hours,

then divide the semester hours by 18. To

determine your percentage of qualifying experience, divide your total months of

experience by the required number of months of experience. Add your percentages together. The total must equal at least 100% in order

to qualify.
