Essential Functions:
Greets the public in person or over the telephone; answers inquiries; routes problems to appropriate individual; determines nature and seriousness of problems and acts accordingly.
Maintains records and files of work projects, equipment and materials important to the proper functioning of the Street Division.
Composes and types inter-office memos and other correspondence as required for the Street Division.
Prepares time sheets, purchase requisitions, absence reports, work requests, vehicle and personal accident report forms important to proper functioning of the Street Division.
Performs computer entry of time sheets, billing information of equipment hours, material usage and work performed by the division for billing of other divisions or departments within the City.
Maintains records and files of private contractors for the purpose of snow removal; compiles records of costs and billing information; maintains records and files of private contractors for concrete replacement required by the City; compiles records of location, costs and billing information.
Acts as radio dispatcher; relaying pertinent information to all City divisions or departments and private companies concerned.
Assists the Sanitation Division with telephone inquiries.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Education and Experience:
A. Graduation from high school with course work in general office skills and practices; AND B. One (1) year of clerical experience using computers, word processing and spreadsheets; OR C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of computer programs; working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; working knowledge of modern office principals, practices, and procedures; clerical procedures and methods related to filing and documenting; computer programs and spreadsheets; English composition, spelling, grammar, punctuation, working knowledge of interpersonal communication skills; working knowledge of basic mathematics.
Ability to operate standard office equipment efficiently; ability to operate radio dispatch equipment; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to develop effective working relationships with Supervisor, fellow employees, and the public.
3. Special Qualifications:
Must be able to type at a rate of 50 words per minute.
Must be willing to work on a twenty-four (24) hour stand-by on call basis to accommodate snow removal as required.
Residency Requirement: Shall be expected, within six months of hire, to establish residence within a 45-minute notification to respond zone from the Street Division Administration Building.
Work Environment:
Incumbent of the Tasks require a variety of physical activities not generally involving muscular strain. Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting. Essential functions require talking, hearing and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking.
