Medical Assistant
Job Summary
Under general supervision, assists physicians and staff members in performing optimal ambulatory health care to patients; stocks and maintains exam rooms and nurses stations; assists with clinical and clerical duties.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, in addition to graduation from a recognized Medical Assistant Program; supplemented with one (1) year previous medical experience (an externship at SLU may be substituted for one year experience); current Basic Life Support ( BLS ) certification. Current certification or registration as a medical assistant is preferred.

Job Duty
Prepares patients for physician’s visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs; assists with exams, tests, and special procedures as directed; may be required to draw blood, collect urine, provide wound care and give immunizations and medications under the direction of provider.
