IIE seeks to hire a Program Officer (PO) to support the management and in-country implementation of the Women’s Enterprise for Sustainability (WES) Program in Tunisia. The Women’s Enterprise for Sustainability (WES) program empowers women-led organizations in Tunisia to operate WES centers as social enterprises. Through these centers, aspiring and established women entrepreneurs gain new skills and networks, launch and expand businesses, and develop as innovative leaders in their communities The Program Officer will work with a small team in San Francisco and Tunisia and report to the WES Assistant Director. The Program Officer must be able to work independently and collaboratively and under general supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Capacity Building and Business Planning
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local partner organizations (PO) in Tunisia to and work collaboratively with program team to support their financial and program monitoring and work toward sustainability
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Track and analyze program progress against key indicators and advise on areas of opportunity
- Develop easy to use monitoring and data collection tools as necessary
- Prepare impact reports and presentations for sponsors and general program updates for web channels
Communications
- In collaboration with consultants in Tunisia, develop and maintain strategic communications plan to ensure a strong and active on-line and social media presence for the WES program, including on Blog, Twitter, Facebook and WES website.
Networks
- Work with teams, and local partners, to build and expand an active network of women entrepreneurs in Tunisia
- Remain current on entrepreneurship and micro-finance news and identify opportunities for WES to participate in global networks, events and mentoring opportunities
Training
- Manage development of new training materials including supporting curriculum consultants to design culturally relevant training materials and events
- Coordinate with consultants in Tunisia to organize training events including overseeing travel and logistics as needed for conferences, site visits, meetings and workshops
- As required, travel to Tunisia and MENA region to meet with partners and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and following all IIE policies and procedures
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned
Job Requirements * Education/Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in related field and at least 2 years of related work experience
- A min. 2 years’ living, working experience or studying overseas, especially in MENA region, preferred.
- Relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to conduct quantitative analysis ideally working with budgets, expense reports and M&E data analysis.
- Ability to identify, gather information for, and write up stories that highlight program impact.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff and external contacts, remain sensitive to cultural differences, and exercise discretion on confidential matters
- Ability to manage projects and tasks involving complex elements that require high attention to detail; well-developed organizational, time-management, and administrative skills in order to manage competing priorities and process large volumes of work under tight deadlines
- Fluency in French and/or Arabic preferred
- Knowledge of and experience working with websites and social media networks
- Advanced Excel and other Microsoft Office 2010 applications and various internet and database tools
