School Psychologist (or Intern) Certificated Staff - Lakeport Unified School District - Lakeport, CA





Under the direction of the Director of Special Education is responsible for providing assessment of pupils with regard to level of functioning, relative strengths and weaknesses, and behavior in social situations. Communicate the results of assessment to teachers, administrators, parents, and other public and private agencies in order to assist in providing an effective special education in the schools.

Specific Duties:

•May serve as a member of the student study team; will serve as a member of IEP team.

•Provides triennial evaluations for determination of continued eligibility.

•Provides necessary special education linked psychological services to schools.

•Administers and interprets individual tests and assists in the development of appropriate intervention services.

•Attends all triennial, initial placement, and 30-day placement meetings.

•Communicates findings and recommendations to family, school, teachers, staff and other agency personnel as appropriate.

•Attends annual review meetings as appropriate and necessary.

•Provides assistance in developing, implementing and evaluating counseling and mental health services.

•Maintains open communication with all other special education staff.

•Assists with the coordination of mainstreaming between regular and special education classes.

•Remains current in literature base, and disseminates matters of practical concern to other staff.

•Consults and coordinates with other agencies, public and private, providing services to the pupil.

•May conduct appropriate inservices and workshops for teachers and administrators.

•Maintains a complete record of tests administered and recommendations made.

•Completes all required tests and meetings within legal guidelines.

•When necessary; develops appropriate Behavior Management Programs for students in classrooms (observes in classes and assists with implementation techniques).

Required Skills:

•Ability to work with children in a variety of situations.

•Individual alertness as well as demonstrated sensitivity to children and their individual needs.

•Strong sense of humor.

•Knowledge of applicable State and Federal regulations and programs.

Basic Qualifications:

•Master Degree in Psychology from a university accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

•Possession of or ability to obtain California Pupil Personnel services Credential – School Psychology authorization.

Hours: 8 hours per day

Days: 195 per year. Holidays and sick leave as required by and Ed Code.

Salary: Psychologist Salary Schedule

Evaluation: Director of Special Education.
