This position will require a 9 month contract, with 2 month extension in the summer.
Successful candidates will oversee placements of students for clinical experiences, practicum, student teaching and internship; collaborate with college faculty and staff, and various P-12 teachers, principals, superintendents, and other school personnel on placement of students; supervises internships, monitors and supervises students in assigned/placed classrooms/settings;; designs and conducts face-to-face/online field/clinical experience seminars; works with program faculty regarding students’ professional behaviors and dispositions; oversees and collaborates with program chairs/coordinators in the development and implementation of performance improvement plans for students when appropriate; negotiates and ensures adherence to memorandums of understanding with cooperating school districts and other agencies for the purposes of student internships (paid and unpaid), practicums, and student teaching placements; participates in semi-annual TEA Educator Preparation Programs College Advisory Committee with P-12 counterparts and other appropriate agencies; assists in preparing and developing federal, state and accreditation reports; assists in coordinating certification test preparation activities. Opportunities to teach Courses in their credentialed area will be available. Mentorship and advisement of students is essential in addition to the involvement in campus activities and other responsibilities, as deemed necessary. Quality performance will be expected in teaching/supervision, student mentorship, community service, as well as active university committee participation.

Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMU-SA) is a newer university in the established Texas A&M University System, originating to serve upper-level (junior, senior and graduate) students from a culturally diverse and largely non-traditional population. The university was created to address the educational needs in South San Antonio and surrounding areas. As part of its move toward becoming a comprehensive university, A&M-SA will begin admitting first and second year students in fall 2016. The current enrollment is approximately 4,500.
