Job Description:
Overview:
The successful candidate will be a collaborative member of the Training and Talent Development team. Will be responsible for customer interaction and collaboration to address learning needs, conduct performance and cause analysis, and to determine and recommend best learning approaches. Designs and develops curricula and/or learning solutions to address learning deficiencies. Instructs, facilitates and/or coordinates learning activities and events as designed. Evaluates results of applied learning for business impact.
Positional Responsibilities:
Diagnoses and assesses individual, group, department, site or organizational training and talent development needs.
Conducts comprehensive assessments using quantitative and qualitative methodologies to identify internal customer issues, needs and opportunities. Analyzes performance data, conducts problem analysis to determine knowledge and skill requirements. Draws upon best practices within the industry and delivers findings and recommendations on best approach to senior leaders.
Designs effective interventions, tools and instructional materials for all levels of the organization to close development gaps and achieve business goals, e.g. learning objectives, curricula, instructional and learning approaches, lesson plans, skill-check evaluations, and computer-based training modules. Designs lessons in a variety of delivery methods to include but not limited to computer based, web-based, classroom and blended instruction. Interacts with customer and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of content and learning objectives.
Partners with leadership to ensure recommended interventions are relevant and operationally sound.
Delivers learning in a variety of roles as an instructor, facilitator and/or coordinator. Plans and ensures learning delivery, venue and logistical needs best fit desired outcomes.
Assesses the value of delivered training and talent development activities for business impact. Utilizes results to make adjustment(s) to improve and maximize learning design and delivery.
Required Education/Training:
Required:
Experience in at least two of the following areas: Needs analysis, instructional design and development, technical and non-technical training delivery methodologies and measurement of training impact.
BS/BA in Organizational Development and Design, Organizational Behavior, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Effectiveness, or related field in Adult Education obtained through an accredited institution is required. Degree may be substituted with requisite military instructor experience and Master Training Specialist certification. Will consider new graduates with relevant intern experience in adult learning.
Proven experience in curriculum development and/or in instructing adult learners.
Have strong oral and written communication skills. Is articulate and confident in speaking and presenting to large audiences and senior management.
The capability to learn and use electronic systems, e.g., MS Office, LMS and other HR systems, project scheduling software, etc.
Have experience in a majority of the following ATD areas of expertise:
Performance Improvement – Apply a systematic process for analyzing human performance gaps and for closing them.
Instructional Design – Design and develop informal and formal learning solutions using a variety of methods.
Training Delivery – Be familiar with the latest, validated methods of learning, development and delivery of informal and formal learning solutions in order to design curricula that are immersive, engaging, impactful and effective.
Learning Technologies – Apply a variety of learning technologies to address specific learning needs.
Evaluating Learning Impact – Use learning metrics and analytics to measure the impact of learning solutions.
Managing Learning Programs – Provide leadership to execute the organization’s people strategy; implements training projects and activities.
Integrated Talent Management – Build an organization’s culture, capability, capacity, and engagement through people development strategies.
Coaching – Apply a systematic process to improve others’ ability to set goals, take action, and maximize strengths.
Knowledge Management – Capture, distribute, and archive intellectual capital to encourage knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
Change Management – Apply a systematic process to shift individuals, teams, and organizations from current state to desired state.
Must have demonstrated skills in the following competencies: initiative, integrity and trust, customer focus, communication (verbal and written), listening, detail orientation, teamwork, and problem solving/analysis.
Preferred:
MS/MA in Organizational Development and Design, Organizational Behavior, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Effectiveness, or closely related field (will also be credited for a portion of required experience).
Management, leadership, executive development and/or coaching qualifications and experience.
Experience with virtual learning/business simulation methodologies.
Proven knowledge and experience working with an enterprise e-learning application.
Strengths in these secondary competencies: Managing priorities, dealing with ambiguity, working independently, planning, and understanding others.
Unique/Additional Requirements:
