Typical Duties
Performs all work in a safe manner. Complies with all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures. Performs work that they are qualified and trained to do in a manner to protect themselves, their fellow employees and the public from injury.
Reads, collects and records meter data as assigned.
Reports unusual conditions.
Checks for unauthorized use and seals/reseals meters.
Delivers notices to customer premises on their routes as needed.
Drives own or Company vehicle.
Responsible for obtaining access to customer premises via keys or other arrangements.
Other duties as assigned relating to meter reading.
Responsible for route maintenance.
Reports gas leaks.
Observes and follows meter reading instructions while extending proper courtesy and consideration to customers and customers’ property.
Leads, trains and instructs employees in their work.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Must have good computer skills for reading, collecting, and recording meter data, either through manual entry into a hand held I-TRON device or through automatic reading of the ERTS device.
Must be able to recognize and report gas leaks.
Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
Candidates must be able to walk long distances and be able to work outside in all types of weather.
Previous experience working with meters or related equipment is preferred.
Pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen is required.
Safety awareness and good driving skills imperative.
