Role Summary/Purpose:
We are looking for a seasoned, entrepreneurial technology executive to join our global Oil & Gas (O&G) software organization in San Ramon, CA. You will be working directly for the O&G Software CTO, in the role of Executive Director, Portfolio Management for Platform Software. Success requires working across functional, geographic and business boundaries as a key member of the O&G Software CTO organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
In this position you will establish roadmaps that continuously evolve and span platform releases and provides direction from O&G to the SW COE. The digital platforms are the basis of all Industrial Internet Solutions for O&G.

As our new Executive Director, Portfolio Management for Platform Software you will:


  • Own strategy, MGPP and roadmaps for O&G platforms upon which business and customer solutions are based.

  • Engage the Software COE Portfolio and Product Management team and O&G business and product leaders to define the software platforms and Industrial Internet technology strategy across O&G

  • Drive thought leadership around Oil & Gas industrial platforms and standardization of solutions.

  • Drive thought leadership around Oil & Gas solutions based on big data and Cloud technologies

  • Influence and contribute to business and technology strategic planning.

  • Lead product managers and business analysts to define epics and user stories required by engineering teams and product teams.

  • Lead team-based Scaled Agile Framework models for software life cycle management.

  • Assess 3rd party software and solutions for fit with the portfolio and business strategy.

  • Develop and promote Cloud related research, partnerships, accelerant and convergence opportunities working closely with the Chief Architect and O&G businesses.

  • Develop deep understanding of Oil & Gas business services and software requirements with the experience and acumen to accelerate portfolio advancements, convergence and delivery.

  • Build community for software product management, engagement and knowledge sharing.

  • Identify and champion best practices for product management activities within O&G by working with and leveraging GE Software capabilities, practices and resources.

Major personal performance objectives for this role in the first 12 months are:


  • Delivery of Oil & Gas Digital Framework and adoption by the Oil & Gas businesses meeting committed targets.

  • Work with businesses and partners to define and message portfolio plans, business adoption and benefits based on O&G platform strategy.

  • Ensure and establish platform portfolio alignment with Predix, Predix APM and Software COE.

  • Ensure critical O&G business and platform requirements are integrated into Predix roadmaps especially for delivery in
    2015.

  • Establish platform portfolio governance and review process with Software COE, all major O&G programs and O&G businesses.

  • Continuously refine and develop multiple year platform roadmap for O&G business with detailed execution plans.

  • Refine and shape the digital strategy for O&G working closely with the CTO staff, product line leaders, the businesses and our customers.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).

  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in software engineering/technology leadership across multiple products, systems and/or platforms coupled with business acumen.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in web-based applications, middle-tier services, database, storage, distributed computing, virtualization and/or application technology migrations, in addition to several years’ experience driving and executing Cloud strategy.

  • Minimum 4 years working in high-level leadership role in software and solutions product management delivering industrial solutions

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

  • Must be willing to work out of an office in San Ramon, CA


Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Ability to identify new concepts to complex systems / solution problems (federated identity, complex event processing, embedded real-time and cooperating ecosystems, etc.).

  • Knowledge of technologies including HTML5/JavaScript, JSON, Spring, RESTful services, public Cloud services, etc.

  • Experience in Oil & Gas related software/applications/systems development with knowledge of O&G related standards and protocols and Oil & Gas industry related data types/standards.

  • Ability to influence non-technical aspects of technology change (e.g. business and operational architectures).

  • Hands-on experience in multi-generation technology planning, convergence and rationalization.

  • Strong at teaching, coaching and mentoring Engineers and other functions.

  • Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills.
