Parts Coordinator - Olmsted County, MN - Rochester, MN





High school graduate or the equivalent and four (4) years of experience with an emphasis in purchasing industrial parts.

Combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience with an emphasis in purchasing industrial parts.

Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.


Nature of Work:


Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for assisting in the purchasing of equipment, materials and supplies; maintaining accurate logging of part usage via the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS); and managing and updating part storage in the facility and the CMMS . The position assists in maintaining a coordinated system of Purchasing, so as to promote cost-effective procurement of materials and supplies.


Examples of Work:


  • Responsible for ordering, inventorying, receiving and returns of all parts and materials

  • Responsible for optimizing the auto reorder inventory control system in the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)

  • Responsible for the shipping, receiving and stocking of goods

  • Maintains inventory control of spare parts

  • Maintains records and produces reports on machinery history, equipment status and building maintenance conditions

  • Maintains files on vendors and commodities, purchase transactions and related purchasing documents

  • Communicates effectively and efficiently in person, by phone and in written form as needed to coordinate timely purchases, parts distribution, invoice processing and vendor demonstrations

  • Researches and maintains supply catalogs and sales literature for product availability and new technology

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and tools involved in the maintenance of a refuse fired cogeneration facility

  • Considerable knowledge of the procurement, control and inventory systems for replacement parts and materials

  • Considerable Knowledge and experience with basic principles, practices and techniques of purchasing

  • Considerable knowledge of office procedures and practices

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the maintenance of heavy stationary boilers, high voltage electrical generation/transmission equipment and related support and auxiliary support systems

  • Considerable ability and skill in using a computer/word processor prefer Microsoft Word, Excel software experience and Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)

  • Ability to perform detailed work rapidly and accurately

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other internal/external customers

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
