Southern States Chemical is the largest ISO 9001-2008 Certified manufacturer/supplier of Sulfuric Acid for industrial use in the Southeastern United States. We serve our customers from production and terminal locations in Savannah, GA and Wilmington, NC, which operate and serve 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The ability to manufacture and ship from three strategic locations allows us to consistently meet our customers’ sulfuric acid demands effectively and efficiently. We offer sulfuric acid that meets the specifications of the food chemical codex, as well as NSF water treatment certifications.

Southern States Chemical is currently looking for a Receptionist / Customer Service Representative. The qualifying candidates will have the following:


The tasks required include:


  • Experience as a receptionist / customer service representative in a professional environment.

  • To answer the phone in a professional and courtesy manner and make every person that calls feel important and glad they called to do business with us Southern States Chemical.

  • Receive incoming phone calls for the company, direct to recipient.

  • Monitor incoming faxes/emails and distribute

  • Take customer orders when needed

  • Open mail, stamp and distribute, as well as intercompany

  • Incoming checks – stamp checks, write amount and customer names on envelope for accounting.

  • Create shipping order/labels for shipping Fed Ex.

  • Maintain records on Fed Ex shipments and attaching receipts for accounting to process.

  • Mail invoices to customers

  • Handle special projects and assignments as requested.

  • Assist President, Customer Service Rep. and Customer Service Manager in various areas of responsibility.

  • Scan/email weights and c of a’s to customers that have requested this information for truck and rail.

  • Check bill of ladings received – from “Sulfuric Acid Log Sheet” to make sure all are accounted for shipped out of plant.

  • Assign batch numbers for each bill – run edit report for processing invoices.

  • Pull back up for miscellaneous freight bills and give to Customer Service Manager/Doc. Controller for review and billing processing.

  • File customer bill of ladings after invoicing.

  • Print and review scale report.

  • Maintain file cabinets – create labels and organize file system/structure as necessary.

  • Annual storage and re-creation of files

  • Notify Document Control Manager of any complaints that needs to be noted on the “Customer Feedback Log”

  • Assist customer service desks when needed.

  • Assist areas of Management when called upon.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Good telephone skills

  • High School Graduate

  • Initiative

  • Reliable

  • Cooperation skills – working with others

  • Basic computer knowledge; Excel and Word

  • Organizational Skills

  • Communicates effectively

  • Ability to Multi tasks
