Under the supervision of the Vice President for Strategic Communications, the External Relations and Media Officer develops and implements external communications strategies to build relationships with key influentials, donors and media to increase the visibility and positioning of the Counterpart Network.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create country-specific and program specific visibility plans that increase the awareness of, and brand position of Counterpart’s programs and unique approaches.
• Implement external cultivation strategies in support of organizational visibility priorities, specifically in new markets.
• Develop institutional content, presentation materials and program collateral to support increasing Network donor base.
• Manage media data base; write press releases, generate media lists and cultivate top targets.
Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, and at least seven years of applicable experience.
• Professional experience in external relations, marketing and/or media relations that advance organizational priorities preferably within an international organization.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with media databases — ability to identify, track and cultivate key media.
• Experience implementing an executive level relationship management strategy.
• Superb organizational skills and an ability to focus on details.
• Ability to work independently as well as proactively seek out information from diverse groups and collaborate to create new and engaging content and presentation materials.
• Ability to think quickly and effectively to solve problems, handle multiple projects, determine priorities in dynamic professional setting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; commitment to collaboration and strong team player.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-cultural, dynamic environment.

PREFERRED:
• Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or International Development and experience managing a program at a small to mid-size organization or agency.
• Fundraising experience highly desirable.
