United States of America: LEAD SYSTEMS ENGINEER


CARE USA is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer who designs, manages, maintains, and monitors daily operations of assigned technical arena, i.e. local-area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), infrastructure security, enterprise email, Cisco Phone, video conferencing and enterprise telecommunication systems to ensure a high level of service and satisfaction for domestic and global users that have access to CARE’s enterprise network and other technology resources. Prepares test plans and leads the unit testing and integration testing. Manages source control, quality control, and production control, as well as security issues.


Proactively monitors and provides timely and effective problem resolution for any IT issues relating to network, email, remote access, virtual private networks (VPN), data connectivity (T1, T3, MPLS, DS3 and VSAT), backup/restore, email-based fax services, infrastructure security, Cisco Call manager, Cisco Unity, Cisco Telepresence, Asterisk Server, Black Berry Enterprise system, VMware ESX servers, EMC SAN, virtualized server setup, and other video conference solutions. The Lead Systems Engineer will be presented with broad, general application and architectural goals and must demonstrate a relatively high degree of intuition in determining the best means to achieve those goals. He/she must leverage critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve specific problems without clearly defined solutions.


Participates in the architectural design of assigned network, email, telecommunications, and infrastructure security. Implements specific aspects of overall strategic architecture and environment plan including network, email, infrastructure security, Asterisk-Elastic, unified communication system, video conferencing system and enterprise telecommunication system.


As project lead or as a team member for assigned projects, provides tasks, time estimates, and resource recommendations. Designs, implements, manages, monitors, and troubleshoots the tasks related to supporting the technical architecture and environment, including network, email systems at headquarters and domestic field offices, email and datacenter hosting environment, Cisco phone systems and video conferencing system, as well as security for servers, desktop PC, local and wide-area network and the internet.


Develops, with input from peers, architects, and managers, the network, connectivity, email, telecommunications, and infrastructure security maintenance and development policies and procedures. Works with cross-functional teams on the integration of the technical architecture and environment, including network, email, security, and telecom integration.


Researches, identifies and recommends technical resources, best practices, and components necessary for network development, email, telecommunications, and infrastructure security development. Contributes to the vendor management process including vendor selection, issue resolution and contract execution. Periodically participates in validating, testing, and updating the Business Continuity Plan.

    Qualifications (Know-How):




  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university (or equivalent degree of experience and education)




  • One or more specific network certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, or CCNP)




  • 6 – 8 years hands-on experience implementing and monitoring enterprise LAN and WAN, including configuration of router and catalyst switch, and security policies and procedures




  • 6 – 8 years recent hands-on experience implementing, configuring and monitoring current version of MS Exchange on an enterprise-wide scale, including migration and consolidation process.




  • 6 – 8 years’ experience monitoring and analyzing security risks, implementing multi-layer security architectures, and assisting in monitoring network security




  • 3 – 5 years’ experience implementing and monitoring VMware servers




  • 3 – 5 year experience implementing, managing and monitoring Cisco Call manager and Unity Servers




  • Excellent knowledge of network architecture components: Cisco Catalyst 6500 and 3700 family, Cisco routers 2800 and 38000, Cisco Call Manager. Cisco Unity, Asterisk, infrastructure security, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and MS Exchange 2003 or above




  • Excellent knowledge of Windows Server 2003 or above, network and SQL server 2010 database infrastructure platform design and implementation




  • Experience in global implementation of SharePoint and other web technologies on the Microsoft platform.




  • Knowledge of network and communications protocol and topologies (LAN. WAN and Wireless, and VoIP)




  • Expertise working with different application protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and other TCP/IP protocols.,




  • Excellent knowledge of EMC SANs environment, server virtualization best practices leveraging VMWare solutions.




  • Expertise installing, configuring, and monitoring ISS IDS, CISCO Firewall, Routers, Catalyst Switches, VSAT, MPLS and VPN




  • Knowledge of ITIL Foundations, and the concepts, processes, procedures and controls for assigned focus areas




  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and technical writing skills




  • Mastery of established IT industry network analysis tools, infrastructure tools, methodologies, and best practices




  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills




  • Experience in the development and implementation of IT Policies, Processes, and Procedures




  • Experience in development of network components to support Enterprise Architectures




  • Experience in Technology Architecture Strategy and Planning




  • Expertise supporting Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Strategy and Planning




  • Knowledge of IT project management and life cycle development practices




  • Expertise evaluating Commercial Hardware/Software network components




  • Experience working with desktop and video-conferencing technologies
