United States of America: PHII Associate Director of Programs/Informatics Analyst


Directs the strategic planning, development, and implementation of program. Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies. Represents the program in various national and international forums. Conducts research, designs new initiatives, writes publishable articles and papers, collaborates with others, and designs programs. May supervise staff.


BACKGROUND:


The Informatics Analyst role for the Public Health Informatics Institute (PHII) contributes to the design and implementation of the PHII program to provide support to all aspects of informatics projects. This includes supporting the Project Director as part of a team to produce products, services and tools to support informatics practice, contributing to the development of grants and serving as a liaison to various groups and other organizations as requested.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


· Translates programmatic concepts into tools, products and services that meet the needs of program beneficiaries (generally public health practitioners).


· Identifies themes, trends and principles that emerge from multiple discrete situations and synthesize them into practical tools and products for program beneficiaries.


· Develops and direct formal and informal learning activities to the needs of various public health audiences.


· Conducts presentations and facilitate groups to achieve programmatic objectives.


· Utilize analytic skills to translate programmatic objectives into activities, establish measures and define data elements for analysis.


· Conducts analysis of Heath Information Technology policy related issues and understands policy implications and drivers for tools, services and products.


· Participates in grant preparation and proposal development.


· Develops and disseminates work product from assigned areas of responsibility to national stakeholders through formal reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, and at scientific conferences.


· Participates fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by management.


TRAVEL: 15% – 20% domestic and international


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in field related to specific program as indicated and five years program related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Master’s degree in public health or related degree.


Experience in public health program areas of immunization, surveillance, vital records or direct services and/or working with Electronic Health Record systems, and/or health data standards or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
