Project Process and Systems Manager
Tetra Tech ARD (http://tetratechintdev.com), headquartered in Burlington, Vermont is accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a Project Process and Systems Manager (PPSM). As a member of the Project Systems and Best Practices (PSBP) team, the PPSM supports development of and/or continuous improvement of all project management systems (including tools, manuals, handbooks, standard operating procedures, and business practices) with the goal of increasing the efficacy and quality of project management. Collaborating with content owners across the firm, the PPSM will continuously improve and/or overhaul all project management systems for both home office and field office staff use, and oversee project management training to ensure consistency and effectiveness in project management practices. The focus is on project management systems, however, there may be requests to support improvements with operational systems or new business development systems.
This position is based in Burlington, Vermont.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with content owners to manage process re-engineering of all necessary project management systems, ensuring that they are relevant and effective, including manuals, handbooks, templates, and SOPs including start-up, close-out, local accounting, local procurement, allowances, project finance, security, local personnel, among others;
* Ensure consistency between all parts of the project management systems;
* Maintain project management systems once they meet quality standards to ensure that they remain relevant, are improved and streamlined to keep pace with changes from the client, industry or company;
* Participate in the feedback loop with home and field project management staff, and work closely with the Internal Auditor and Project Startup Specialist, to seek regular input for continuous improvement of systems, and track feedback items for implementation or action;
* Review audit findings from external auditors to ensure compliance and to continuously improve systems, based on lessons learned;
* Work with relevant Tetra Tech sister units in International Development Services, and internal sector staff to further develop and ensure consistency in field and home office project management training; and
* Oversee identification and supports development and execution of all home office project management trainings;
* Stay abreast of updated project management regulations, best practices, and trends both within Tetra Tech and within the international development industry, and transferring knowledge to relevant staff.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in a related field required;
* Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years of demonstrated successful experience working on project management teams;
* Project management experience for variety of firms, clients, and/or contract types, inclusive of project start-up and close-out preferred;
* High level of familiarity with USAID contract regulations and short or long term experience in working with project teams in the field strongly desired;
* Ability to think critically and creatively to design new systems and continuously improve existing systems, and experience designing and implementing training or capacity building programs strongly preferred;
* Self-directed, able to manage own workload and priorities, and a high level of reliability and follow-through;
* Very strong organizational skills (particularly great attention to detail), including ability to plan and schedule and then manage complex projects;
* Outstanding interpersonal and intercultural communications skills;
* Demonstrated experience collaborating successfully across teams, units, and hierarchies across learning styles and organizational cultures;
* Must be comfortable working in a fast paced and sometimes intense work environment;
* Energetic and enthusiastic collaborative team player; and
* U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is an absolute requirement.
