This position is located in a Navy Consolidated Brig. The Brig is an adult correctional facility in which personnel of both sexes (primarily male), up to a maximum of 400 individuals, may be confined to serve sentences imposed by appropriate military authority. The position is responsible for managing the congressionally mandated program requiring the command to ensure victims and/or witnesses, who have chosen to be enrolled, be kept informed of a specific prisoners release status and absences from the facility. In addition, the incumbent manages the Sex Offender Notification Program, which notifies state/county authorities of the impending arrival of convicted sex offenders as they are released.

- Provides victim/witnesses with inmate updates.
- Reviews inmate cases to determine if there are victim/witnesses and if they are enrolled in a victim/witness program.
- Answers inquiries from victims/witnesses concerning problems related to or derivative from an individual’s incarceration.
- Conducts research to get full addresses, complete names, determine if victims/witnesses are eligible for programs. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing administrative duties (e.g., data entry, records maintenance, database file research) to manage information regarding correctional facility programs by utilizing a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices in the field of correctional victim/witness programs and sex offender notification program management and execution.

- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is mostly sedentary. However, walking, standing, bending and carrying light items are required. Must be able to participate in unarmed self-defense training.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Incumbent observes normal personal and institutional security as well as safety precautions while working throughout the brig. Close and frequent contact with prisoners is required. Due to potential aspects of security, incumbent must become trained and prepared for unarmed self-defense. Could be subject to being held hostage. Occasional visits to industrial, construction, warehouse, and/or testing sites may require the use of protective glasses, headgear, hearing devices, and protective clothing.
