Concern Worldwide US (CUS) is an independent affiliate of Concern Worldwide, with offices in New York and Chicago. Our mission is to support the work of Concern Worldwide by financially supporting programs, representing Concern with national and international co-funders and organizations, facilitating the recruitment of personnel and raising the organization’s profile. CUS also engages in development education programs with the general public and with high schools in the US.
The Role
Based in New York, the Development Officer, Institutional Partnerships is an integral member of the Development team, working closely with the Director of Institutional Partnerships to help manage and expand Concern’s portfolio of foundation and corporate donors. Primary responsibilities will include preparing grant reports and other donor communications, researching and identifying potential new donors, assisting with proposal submissions, developing program briefs and other materials for donors and prospects, assisting with stewardship activities, and maintaining grants and donor information in Concern’s fundraising database.
Responsibilities
• Working closely with Concern’s finance and program staff, ensure that all requirements are met throughout the entire grant cycle, including writing acknowledgments, tracking payments, and submitting grant reports
• Prepare donor communications including acknowledgment letters, invitations, and program updates
• Research and identify new foundation and corporate prospects; prepare prospect profiles and help develop solicitation strategies for each
• Develop a deep understanding of Concern’s mission and country programs
• Update and revised current program overviews used by Institutional Partnerships and develop new overviews and other descriptive program materials as needed
• Help prepare and submit concept notes and proposals, and ensure that all submissions meet funders’ guidelines and deadlines
• Track anticipated and received grant payments and help prepare reports for Finance and Board
• Prepare donor briefings and updates and help coordinate donor overseas trips
• Ensure that records for donors and prospects are complete and up to date in Salesforce
Requirements
• Minimum two to four years working for a non-profit organization or donor agency, preferably in the area of international development
• Previous experience in grants management, including preparing narrative and financial reports
• Strong writing and editing skills and close attention to detail
• Deep knowledge of the US foundation and corporate giving sectors
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage a wide variety of internal and external relationships, including with donors and with Concern’s overseas staff
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple and often competing deadlines
• Experience with Sales Force or other CRM system such as Raisers Edge or Donor Perfect
• Commitment to the mission and values of Concern Worldwide
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree a plus
• Must have eligibility to work in the U.S.
