Learning, leveraging, and thought leadership for Pact’s core technical areas
Ensuring quality programming through technical support and monitoring
Contributing to innovative program design, monitoring and evaluation Position PurposeThe position will support the Results and Measurement team within Program Advancement. S/he will learn about Pact’s projects and global monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning tools and approaches. This is a paid internship with practical experience to complement academic studies and a passion for MERL.Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to Pact’s monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) initiatives:
Support data collection for Pact’s Global Indicators using two global databases, including communications with Pact’s 30+ field offices, data quality checking and management, etc.
Review learning review case studies from field programs and distill the learnings into a user’s guide for Pact projects.
- Assist in the revision of Pact’s MERL modules.
- Support a reliability study of Pact’s Government Performance Index, in collaboration with the Capacity Development team.
- Support synthesis of Social Return on Investment studies that have been completed in 4 countries.
- Synthesize the outputs of two workshops on Pact’s Integrated Approach to development, with a focus on the measurement of the impacts of integrated development programming.
- Provide support to proposal MERL sections, as needed.
Support MERL processes of Pact projects, including drafting terms of references for evaluations, reviewing M&E Plans, drafting log frames/results frameworks, etc.Basic Requirements
Knowledge of international development principles and concepts generally, and specific knowledge of MERL concepts and methods
Ability to establish and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with Pact staff in overseas offices
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent written and oral communications
Knowledge of MERL tools, concepts, and approaches (from coursework or professional experience)Preferred Qualifications
International experience working with MERL for health, education, governance, vulnerable children and youth, or economic programming
Pursuing a Master’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Public Health or related field
- Experience using relational databases and/or quantitative data analysis software
- Familiarity with mobile technology for MERL and/or GIS and mapping data
