JOB DESCRIPTION:
Directs the planning, development, and operations of a program with the Task Force for Global Health. Collabo-rates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies. Plans, executes, and monitors program budgets, including approval of expenditures; prepares annual financial and program reports to external parties with interests in the program. May engage in fundraising initiatives on behalf of the program. Ensures that the program is in compliance with federal and international laws and regulations. Oversees program communications, including development of communications strategies, development of key program messages, production of print and electronic materials, and reputation management. Represents the program in various national and international fora, and actively engages with representatives from other NGO’s for purposes of con-ducting research and designing new initiatives. May supervise program staff. Performs other related duties as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The principal mission of TEPHINET is: To strengthen international public health capacity through initiating, supporting, and networking of field-based training programs that enhance competencies in applied epidemiology and public health practice. In addition to this mission, TEPHINET provides administrative and management support to many international public health projects, some of which are related to the field epidemiology training programs. The Project Manager ensures that all of his/her assigned projects are completed on time, within budget, and that the projects meet its goals. The Project Manager ensures external project participants (for example, grantees, consultants, partners, subject matter experts, and meeting participants) are engaged and are informed of status and direction of project activities. They may assist in writing grants. The Project Manager may represent and promote projects at various speaking engagements.
Project Implementation
· Works with the Director, Deputy Director and funders to define scope of a project.
· Documents project work plan/timeline, resource needs, resource expectations, key milestone dates and tracks project process.
· Creates status reports for distribution to project team, external customers.
· Updates activities and modifies deliverable dates as needed.
Resource Management
· Provides support in the establishment of an office in Pakistan.
· Supervises/creates contracts for consultants as needed.
· Supports Pakistan office staff.
- Identifies subcontractors in countries and provides guidance on reporting, payment and the implementation of activities.
· Approves expense reports and manages detailed budget.
· Works with the financial management staff to provide information for financial reports.
Creates, submits, and processes invoices.
Meeting Coordination
· Facilitates internal team conference calls/meetings, ensures meeting minutes are created, provides status reports, manages action item lists and issues lists, and tracks parking lot items.
Collaboration
· Meets regularly with the project team to review all current projects and escalates issues to supervisor as needed.
· Builds and nurtures relationships with consultants and external customers by interacting through email, phone calls, meetings, and/or personal visits.
Staff Development
· Attends conferences/meetings and reviews literature in order to stay abreast of current knowledge and issues.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Participates fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health and TEPHINET by contributing, assisting and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by management.
·Represent the secretariat in different activities like conferences, meetings, contact with donor or activities assigned by the supervisor.
·Acts as a liaison to partner organizations and all project related personnel and affiliates, with a high level of diplomacy and tact.
·Participates in problem solving and resolution of operational issues.
TRAVEL –20-25% domestic and/or international travel and willingness to travel to Pakistan are required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in field related to specific program as indicated and six years program related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s degree in a field related to the program
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
· Prior experience in donor and partner relations, particularly, experience working with the CDC
· Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills; high attention to detail and quality
· Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
· Previous experience working on international projects
