Building System Technician - Emporia State University - Kansas

Emporia State University currently has a Building System Technician vacancy with our University Facilities team located in Emporia, KS.

As a Building System Technician you will:
Inspect mechanical rooms including thermostats, air compressors, air handling units, circulating pumps, and domestic hot water temperatures


Perform preventative maintenance including changing filters, belts, grease and oil; cleaning condensers; and maintaining motors, closed loop chemicals, circulating pump motors, couplings, condensate pumps and exhaust fans


Operate and repair steam equipment


Install HVAC equipment including duct work, furnaces, fan coil units, air conditioning units, exhaust fans, and controls.

Earns $14.89 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:
To meet the minimum requirements for this position, you must have:


A combined two years of experience in any of the following building/mechanical trades: electrical, electronics, plumbing, power plant operation, boiler operation, HVAC, and electronic/pneumatic control repair


Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by ESU


Ability to work in extreme environments including: heights, hot temperatures, confined spaces, and near high pressure steam


Preferred Qualifications:
Technical College degree in building/mechanical trades or HVAC


A combined two (2) years of experience in any of the following building/mechanical trades: electrical, electronics, plumbing, power plant operation, boiler operation, HVAC, and electronic/pneumatic control repair
