A meat department employee holds an important position in the store. This professional is responsible for receiving, storing, cutting, grinding and packaging meat so it is ready for sell to the customers. They cut and trim meat from larger, wholesale portions into steaks, chops, roasts, and other cuts that shoppers want. They scrutinize meat as it is delivered to ensure that the quality and quantity is correct and rotates storage / display to maximizing freshness and to avoid shrink. They must adhere to strict standards of sanitation and personal hygiene. Duties: Meat department employees receive, stock, cut, grind, wrap, weigh, price, and attractively merchandise meat department products. Stock packaged and frozen food products from the meat department. Meat cutters work with power meat saws, slicers, grinders, wrapping machines, and knives. Powered and hand jacks and other duties as assigned. Activities: Standing, Reaching, Stooping, Kneel, Bending, Move, Pull, Push, Communicate Requirements: Frequently lift 35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds |
