RRC’s Outpatient Chronic Dialysis clinic in Houma, LA is seeking a full-time Unit Clerk. This position would be for 32 hours per week, Mon-Fri. Performs clerical and administrative tasks associated with facility operations in accordance with all RRC policies and procedures as well as all regulatory agency guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answers the phone
- Transfers calls and takes messages for staff (and ensures proper delivery of messages)
- Greets patients and visitors
- Opens and distributes mail
- Maintain staff attendance records either in a digital file, shared with the Center Director and printed annually or utilize a paper form system.
- Supervise and manage the petty cash in coordination with the Center Director for ongoing small purchases in the center.
- Performs various administrative tasks for the Center Director such as scheduling, assists with letters, spreadsheets, etc.
- Notifies staff when a patient has arrived for treatment or assists patient into the treatment room
- Communicates with internal and external staff as well as outside vendors, patients, doctors, etc. using oral and written means including, but not limited to, telephone, fax machine, email, intercom, etc.
- Completes daily treatment sheets after patient has completed treatment and verifies completeness and accuracy prior to sending to billing
- Completes weekly treatment log summary and verifies for completeness and accuracy
- Emails appropriate billing information to billing and corporate offices
- Assists the Center Director or Social Worker with new patient admissions
- Assembles and prepares new patient’s charts as instructed, keeps accurate records, files all patient medical record information within 24 hours.
- Thins and purges charts according to Policy and Procedure schedule
- Reviews and audits charts regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness of records in accordance with RRC Policy & Procedure
- Reviews medical records for missing and incomplete information and notifies Center Director
- Ensures all caregivers and Physician signatures are timely on medical records
- Ensures that all signatures are obtained on appropriate documents
- Schedules care plan meetings and other meetings for the Center Director.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Reviews and corrects all billing information prior to transmittal to billing and corporate offices.
- Prepares special patient care forms (releases, etc.) as needed.
- Obtains medical records from other facilities as needed.
- Transcribes Doctors orders as needed
- Participates in CQI
- Helps with other duties in other positions to cover vacations, etc. (as is trained)
- Upholds and supports company values in words and actions. Speaks respectfully to patients and co-workers and strives to follow company policies and procedures, asking when unclear.
- Assists with corporate projects and initiatives as designated.
- Other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of medical clerical experience preferred.
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Telephone, fax, and computer skills required.
- Experience with the general public preferred.
