Rationale and context of the assignment:
The Digital Strategy Section (DSS) within the Division of Communication comprises Web, Social Media and Multimedia teams working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide digital services within the organization. Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, DSS draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability.
Web stories, blog entries, photo essays, Facebook posts, Twitter campaigns, and videos for distribution via UNICEF.org, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms – all are a part of our digital storytelling. By measuring and testing our efforts, we also use data to inform content and engagement choices.
DSS seeks to hire an experienced a Broadcast Technical Specialist to manage the video production and post-production studios, equipment and to provide relevant technical support to staff in HQ and on location. The position also requires experience shooting, producing and editing video materials for online audiences. Production work will be assigned as required and as when facilities are running appropriately.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the planning, installation and maintenance of UNICEF’s media production infrastructure
- Advises on workflow, media archiving and other procedures for the multimedia team and provides technical support to in-house producers and editors and to field producers on location.
- Advises on new technologies relevant to video and audio production and distribution and syndication as needed.
- Maintains Adobe Premiere Mac workstations and Pro Tools suites.
- Coordinates and implements the installation of new equipment and new software solutions
- Supports and maintains Media Asset Management system hardware and software.
- Supports back up tape library and coordinates back up plans.
- Supports post-production work as needed. It includes (but not limited to) studio and location video production, video recording and editing, encoding and broadcast patch bay.
- May work weekends
Qualifications or specialized knowledge/ experience required:
- Extensive experience with multiple ENG, DSLR cameras, microphones and ancillary equipment.
- Keen understanding of digital video workflows, deliverables and standards.
- Solid experience in video production, shooting and editing.
- Experience delivering products for social media online audiences and platforms
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, codecs and video optimization tools.
- In depth knowledge of digital asset management systems.
- Experience in media back up using Presstore (P5) and LTO tape.
- Experience administrating SAN environments
- Ability to operate and support at a high level the video production facilities.
- Knowledge of industry standards for audio and video production.
- Ability to plan, manage and propose annual budgets and maintain vendor relations.
- Ability to multi-task and work under deadline pressure with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment in a cooperative and professional manner.
- Professional work ethic, integrity, and initiative.
- Knowledge of international development issues a plus.
- Knowledge of UN languages other than English a plus.
