United States of America: Social Media Specialist

Job Summary / Responsibilities:


  • Develops and implements social media strategies to engage audiences in human development.

  • Interviews content experts and translate information into accurate, clear and concise prose for social media and online properties.

  • Writes and promotes live blogs and content. Analyzes responses to social media activities and makes recommendations.

  • Assists in developing and implementing communication strategies to disseminate information about company research programs/projects.

  • Identifies and collects appropriate artwork to accompany posted material.

  • Provides technical assistance for promotion of new publications, projects, design and implementation of social media strategies and learning projects.

  • Monitors company on-line communities and presence.

  • Represents the company message to online communities, media, analysts and the general public.

  • Serves as project lead for assigned projects through social media, ensuring quality and smooth production from start to finish of project.

  • Researches, writes, and edits a broad range of communications that promote the activities of the organization using social media outlets.

  • Provides publicity and promotional support for special events and community outreach activities using social media networks and tools.

  • Develops and implements communications and public relations strategies to promote and publicize a variety of departmental projects, services and programs.

  • Plans a variety of internal meetings to ensure successful communication of organizational messages and opportunities for dialogue.

  • Maintains and builds relationships with social network influencers to create opportunities and coverage of company programs/events

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent – Communications Technologies / Technicians and Support Services Education

  • Typically requires 5-8 years of experience with writing, editing, and communicating company programs through social media networks and tools.

  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.

  • Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
