High school diploma, G.E.D. or foreign education equivalent to a US Accredited High School Diploma and satisfactory completion of a two (2) year program in behavioral or social sciences

Combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of paid experience in a similar position as listed in the Examples of Work
Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.
Nature of Work:
Under supervision, performs a variety of assigned tasks related to the rendering of appropriate paraprofessional social services: makes recommendations on program eligibility; reviews compliance to programs and/or regulations; documents information and recommendations. The work is performed under the direction of a Family Support and Assistance Supervisor.
Examples of Work:
- Provides information and/or assistance for persons in accessing resources for themselves
- Interviews and assists persons with necessary forms needed to obtain financial assistance for payments under federal programs
- Answers high volume phone line and provides information and referral about various financial programs available
- Performs general clerical duties for family support and assistance division
- Assists in incoming and outgoing mail processes
- Assists in covering front desk, and reception duties
- Assembles various packets
- Maintains a variety of tracking spreadsheets for the Eligibility worker which include Word/Excel documents
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of human behavior
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Knowledge of office procedures, practices and equipment
- Knowledge of form design as it relates to data entry
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to relate to people in an appropriate manner

In compliance w/ the Americans with Disabilities Act the following represents the Physical/Environmental Demands: This position requires a majority of time (up to 70%) spent walking and sitting. Some standing is required and objects of usually no more than ten (10) pounds need to be lifted, carried or pushed. Adverse movements such as stooping, kneeling or crouching are often required. Simultaneous/repetitive use of both hands is required for writing and data entry. Excellent sensory skills are important (sight, hearing and speech) as well as ability to communicate effectively.
