The Special Coagulation Laboratory performs a wide variety of diagnostic and patient monitoring testing using a number of instruments and methods. Job Description:
· Performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic tests on a 24-hour rotation basis in the disciplines of coagulation and one chemistry test – the Adenosine Deaminase.
· Demonstrates self-direction, critical thinking, and customer service skills.
· Functions independently in performing all major work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice.
· Acts as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results.
· Correlates data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results.
· Collaborates with the customers of the laboratory to promote customer satisfaction. The MLS participates in laboratory performance improvement activities.
· Trains and mentors new staff/students.
· Works closely with patient care staff.
· Ability to work as a team is vital.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology which includes a laboratory practicum along with receipt of MT(ASCP) certification. 2 years experience in a special or routine laboratory with blood drawing experience preferred. Possess or be eligible to receive appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification (ASCP). If not certified, must obtain certificate within one year of hire.
