Duties:
The position of Medical Instrument Technician (Polysomnographer) is with Medicine Service, Little Rock Campus, Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. Polysomnography Technicians operate the electroencephalograph and other devices to record the electrical activity of the brain during sleep. Duties include but are not limited to: · Assist in the performance or independently perform involved diagnostic procedures. · Use practical knowledge of location and function of major body organs and structures elated to the specialized field in which the employee works. · Secure the confidence and cooperation of patients during procedures. · Explain procedures, positions patients for desired results, and cushions and shields patients as appropriate. · Assist during procedures by monitoring patients condition, administering medications and the patient prior to the procedures and records information. · Recognize deviations in patients condition and takes appropriate action. · Sets up all necessary accessories or supplies and advises other medical personnel of new equipment, accessories, or supplies. · Transport equipment to areas where needed. · Ensure proper cleaning and/or sterilization of equipment after its use. · Perform minor maintenance, and adjustments, replacing tubes, etc. · Determine technical factors, sets controls, and operates equipment and instruments. · Set up and adjust specialized equipment with multiple features that requires precise patient positioning to operate correctly · Serve as coordinator for questions including interpretation of policy relating to the provision of medical services and responds to complex questions involving a range of issues. Work Schedule: 8:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., Thursday Sunday OR 8:00pm-6:30am Monday-Thursday.
