Under the leadership of the Director, External Communications, develop and implement external communications strategies and plans with one direct report: Specialist, External Communications.

  • Serve as a company spokesperson, answering requests for information from the public and the news media.


  • Manage the HA promo team, including applications, interviews, hiring and media training, as well as oversight as needed at various functions and events.


  • Work with PR consultants in all HA destination markets to ensure aligned and integrated messaging.


  • Liaise with travel industry partners and coordinate scheduling, logistics and budget for media relations familiarization (FAM) tours.


  • Plan and execute media blitzes.


  • Create and manage calendars for PR and executive positioning based on HA strategies and messaging.


  • Oversee the development of all HA news releases and media advisories, commendation and Mahalo letters.


  • Manage the development of press kits, including photo and video assets; company

    media lists; and media monitoring reports on a project basis, monthly and quarterly.


  • Direct and coordinate gate side departure ceremonies, photo shoots, external-facing events and meetings, including media lunches.


  • Oversee conference, trade shows, and press interviews.


  • Monitor media, analyze HA positioning and adjust public messages as needed.


    • College degree


    • 3-5 years in public relations or the media.


    • Deadline oriented, excellent writing and editing skills,


    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving a variety of stakeholder interests and desired outcomes.


    • Strategic and innovative thinker, team-oriented, active problem solver.


    • Proven storyteller.


    • Ability to travel, at least (but not limited to) 30% of the time.


    • Ability to travel to and obtain visas for foreign countries.


    • Proficiency with current and emerging technologies.


    • Understanding of video production and PowerPoint.


    Preferred Requirements

    • Demonstrated ability to write communication plans highly preferred.


    • Airline industry experience.


    • Demonstrated experience with consumer, business and industry media.
