Museum Attendant (multiple positions) job - University of Alaska - Fairbanks, AK

The University of Alaska Museum of the North seeks outgoing, customer service oriented people for the summer season.

All shifts are available from 8a.m. to 7:30p.m.

Under the direction of the Manager of Visitor Services, and the Assistant Managers of Visitor Services, the Sales Clerk will perform the following duties:
  • Verify and monitor daily sales and admission deposits.

  • Organize and maintain Visitor Services files.

  • Take an active role in the selling, displaying, storage, tracking and marketing of Museum store merchandise.

  • Impose and monitor Museum security procedures.

  • Assist with a variety of special events.

  • Assist with tour companies and other visiting groups.

  • Aid in the management of museum programs.

  • Assist Visitor Services with a variety of duties as assigned.

Must be willing to work between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Will be asked to work a varied schedule, Sunday through Saturday. Will be required to work additional hours as special events require.


Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.


  • Working knowledge of word and point of sale systems.

  • Sales and customer service experience.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff members.

  • Ability to speak in front of groups of people.

  • Ability to maintain a positive, customer service attitude.
