Project Description:
This position will support Business Planning and Proposals (BPP) team and other members of senior leadership to make sound and strategic business decisions by providing business development data analysis and reporting, database development and maintenance, financial management that is accurate, current, and timely. Responsible for tracking opportunities, measuring and reporting on BPP performance, and ensuring that all information systems are designed, implemented, and refined to best meet the daily, short-term and long-term needs of BPP end users. Strong customer service skills are required to be responsive to internal clients (both in BPP and within the leadership ranks of the entire organization).
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The Business Analyst III will be responsible for:
Business Analysis:
- Conduct analysis of proposal performance on regularly scheduled bases. Work effort includes monitoring, tracking, and forecasting components.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously and independently, against time-sensitive deadlines.
- Design, tailor, and submit high quality reports/ presentations to organizational-wide audiences in a timely manner.
- Lead entire design effort for all related deliverables as needed, ensuring all due dates are met without impacting quality of data.
- Work with BPP management to prepare, monitor, track, forecast, and plan staffing for departmental budget.
- Analyze monthly budget and expenditure data.
- Identify new ways of examining data to make FHI 360 more competitive and alert to shifts in market and opportunity landscapes.
- Conduct strategic analysis of business development performance on regularly scheduled bases. Work effort includes monitoring, tracking, and forecasting components.
- Interpret data findings and translate into language that explains the meaning of data, data trends.
- Maintain report forms, formats, information dashboards, data generators, reports and other resources.
Operations Support and Information Systems:
- Develop, through collaboration with ISS system analysts, major enhancements to improve performance and functionality of GovWin, Cognos, TM1, Costpoint and SharePoint platforms.
- Represent Business Planning and Proposals, as appropriate, at cross-sector and enterprise service meetings and working groups often taking a leadership role in championing and/or rolling out system adaptations/ adoptions.
- Develop templates and work processes to streamline BPP financial and data management.
- Serve as first adapter and trainer for other department members on new improvements.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills to be able to manipulate data in various ways, while keeping keen eye on detail.
- Seen as an expert on proposal/financial requirements of intenational and domestic funders across multiple human development sectors, including USAID, US Departments of Defense, Education, Health & Human Services, and State, as well as with private foundations funding human development activities.
- Routinely deal with confidential and sensitive information.
- First adapter/trainer of COMPASS (Deltek) platform for BPP users.
- Gathers, researches, organizes, and analyzes financial information and other data.
- Synthesizes findings, models future trends, and articulates concerns and recommended paths forward to senior leadership.
- Often takes on role of mentor to train department members on new systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Management, or Finance; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in data/information, finance, or project-management.
- Proactively identifies I.T./ financial problem areas/work issues to be addressed. Leads teams to design solutions.
- Works independently to complete job tasks.
- Excellent written, verbal, group facilitation, and presentation communication skills; confident presenter of findings/ recommendations to senior executives
- Possess strong interpersonal skills with sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political and ethical issues addressed by international development organizations.
- Skilled in research techniques, data entry, knowledge management, and written communication
- May supervise a junior team member or consultant.
- Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Microsoft SharePoint
- IBM Cognos Enterprise Reporting experience a plus.
- Deltek GovWin Capture Management System experience a plus
