PSI and its local affiliates work to support Ministries of Health in around 32 developing countries to improve the health of children. Our child survival efforts are focused on finding the most appropriate channels to reach mothers and care givers, and provide them with high quality, cost-effective, integrated health products and services that address the main causes of childhood disease and death.
PSI is seeking an experienced, dynamic person to join a proactive high performing team to support and further develop its child survival portfolio. The position will be based in Washington DC, USA with up to 40% travel and will report to Senior Child Survival Technical Advisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To work as part of a team and support the existing ICM technical advisors to manage and support PSI’s child survival strategies to maximize health impact through improved service delivery.
- To support the senior Child Survival Technical Advisor to lead regional / global proposal development initiatives to scale up ICCM
- To support the senior Child Survival Technical Advisor to provide in-country and remote technical assistance on program design, resource mobilization/proposal development, implementation, behavior change communications and integrated health delivery approaches.
- To develop the departments Behavior Change Communications (BCC) portfolio and act as technical focal point for BCC in the department
- To support the engagement at the policy level with partner organizations, donors and international networks to share PSI learning and achievements and to ensure PSI is delivering programs in line with international best practices
- Represent PSI at international child survival meetings in order to facilitate knowledge and information exchange and improved partnership
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant post-graduate degree with a strong communications focus (MPH, MBA, MA etc.);
- 2+ years work experience a technical or management capacity role;
- Sound technical knowledge of child survival issues in developing countries (Both policy and practice);
- Robust understanding of BCC theories of change
- Familiarity with the international donor community, proposal writing and program design;
- Familiarity with fund raising / proposal development
- Demonstrated fund raising skills;
- Excellent writing and presentation skills;
- At least two years experience working in developing countries
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency in French an advantage
- Knowledge / experience in private sector / marketing an advantage
STATUS:
- Exempt
- Level 7 based upon experience.
