Job Goal: The primary role of the Human Resources Assistant is to provide administrative support to the Human Resources area, maintain personnel records and contribute to the operational success of the Human Resources Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years of college preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years Human Resources experience in a public school setting preferred. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge and experience in basic office procedures and small office equipment including the ability to make routine computation and tabulations with speed and accuracy. Must have excellent communication and telephone etiquette. The ability to work successfully with other staff members, employees, and the public. Ability to apply basic principles in maintaining accurate records.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Prompt and regular attendance. Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions. Assists department in carrying out various human resource programs and procedures for all LCSS employees. Assists with preparation of Board packet. Conducts substitute teacher training and testing. Assists with new hire and benefit orientation. Maintains human resources information system records and compiles reports from the database as needed. Updates HR spreadsheet with employee change requests and processes paperwork. Verifies I-9 documentation and maintain files. Prepares new employee files. Maintains and updates personnel records. Completes employment verifications, past work experience and disability/medical claim forms. Assists or prepares correspondence. Processes mail. Assist with sick leave bank administration. Provides coverage to Central Office Receptionist as needed and requested. Maintains Human Resources staff calendar. Performs other duties as assigned by Chief Human Resources Officer and/or Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Requirements: Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment: 240 days. Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Chief Human Resources Officer.
