Good professional, office, and organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure, to deal with all types of personalities, and to remain calm at all times. Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Pleasant voice and personality since this person is our first and primary contact with customers and vendors. Basic knowledge of shipping, receiving, and standard trucking procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Answer and redirect all incoming telephone calls.
- Greet all persons coming to SAS.
- Distribute faxes including orders from customers.
- Process inbound and outbound trucks. This may involve having truckers sign log, weigh trucks light and heavy, direct drivers to dock, compare info on plant order to info on bill of lading and resolve any discrepancies, and distribute bills of lading via mail, fax, or hand delivery.
- Send receiving reports for customers supplies.
- Compile various shipping reports for customers and/or SAS personnel.
- Assist with scheduling shipments when traffic coordinator is absent.
- Be familiar with SAS shipping and office procedures.
- Be familiar with operation and programming of SAS telephone system.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions when necessary in order to improve and/or enhance the quality of products and services provided.
