The Department of Social & Health Services – Economic Services Administration/Community Services Office is seeking a Social Service Specialist 3 located in Stevenson, Washington.

This position functions as the sole Social Service Specialist 3 and manages an assigned Housing & Essential Needs (HEN) and Aged, Blind or Disabled (ABD) as well as a WorkFirst caseload. This position supports the Columbia River CSO with a caseload of ABD/HEN recipients in addition to an ABD/HEN caseload in Stevenson. You will work under little supervision and will be responsible for devising your own work methods.

Your responsibilities will include:
Completes comprehensive assessments, and makes independent decisions on complex cases.

Performs crisis intervention and full range of case management services, including case plans, vouchers, referrals, etc.

Works with individuals and families who have domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, pregnancy or child protective issues.

Facilities case staffing’s develops and collaborates with community vendors, contractors, provides expert testimony in Administrative hearings and interprets medical information to determine employability,


What we are looking for:
One year as a Social Service Specialist 2 (formerly Social Worker 2)

Or , a Master’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or an allied field and two years of paid social service experience* equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2.

Or , a Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or an allied field, and three years of paid social service experience performing functions equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 2. *A two year Master’s degree in one of the above fields that includes a practicum will be substituted for one year of paid social service experience.


  • Employees must successfully complete the formal training course sponsored by their division within one (1) year of their appointment.
