Position: Communications Intern

About This Position
Green Empowerment is seeking a communications intern to create external communications,
improve outgoing materials and develop processes for continued marketing efforts. This person will
own multiple assignments, deliver high-quality materials, take initiative, design and implement an
independent project and be confident in proposing new ideas and approaches.
About Green Empowerment
Green Empowerment is a Portland-based non-profit that works with partners to provide access to
renewable energy and clean water in rural communities in Latin America and Asia. Green
Empowerment supports integrated projects that improve human well-being, are sustainable over
time, limit the impacts of climate change, and have the potential for broad impact beyond any one
community. Founded in 1997, GE works with a network of partners in Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru,
Colombia, the Philippines, Malaysia (Borneo) and along the Thai/Myanmar border.
Responsibilities
Draft content for our e-newsletter, appeals, reports, press releases and more
Proof all communication collateral for spelling, grammar and style
Create and post compelling content for Green Empowerment’s social media mediums
Research and propose new ways of getting brand and message out into the world
Support development of communications and marketing guidelines
Design, pitch and implement an independent project in partnership with the GE team.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
Proven knowledge of AP Style
High attention to detail with a good eye for design and ability to follow branding guidelines
Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently
Position Details:
Available to work 2-3 days/week in the Portland office; unpaid
