Duties
As a Deputy Coordinator, you will:
Strategically promote methods to increase private sector investment through existing private and public efforts in order to identify where additional support is needed, as well as gaps that are not currently being addressed.
Provide effective outreach and coordination with senior USG Agency representatives, multilateral donors, and corporate executives. Lead outreach efforts designed to inform our various constituencies (the public, the Hill, Agency leadership and other USG departments/agencies) of the progress, achievements, potential setbacks and priority needs in establishing activities in support of the trade initiative.
Provide day-to-day policy and operational guidance and supervise a team of advisors and program specialists performing work primarily at the GS-14 and GS-15 level.
Provide operational, managerial, and supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
Engage Washington policy-makers in identifying steps needed to accelerate policy and regulatory reforms efforts in order to encourage investment in trade; and enhance trade facilitation.
Oversee the preparation of briefing papers memoranda and occasional Congressional testimony for the Administrator and Assistant Administrator for Africa, as well as weekly reports to the senior Agency management on salient country and program issues related to trade in sub-Saharan Africa.
Ensure that submissions for the Mission Strategic Resource Plans (MSRPs), the Congressional Budget Justification (CBJs), Congressional Notification (CNs), the Operational Plans (OPs), the annual Performance Plan and Reports (PPRs) and budget-related documents as required for the USAID regional missions as well as bilateral missions are complete, accurate and timely.
Engage in regular technical exchanges with universities and U.S.-based think tanks that are conducting cutting-edge research related to trade; trade promotion; and, policy and regulatory reform.
