Title: Monitoring & Evaluation Intern

About This Position
Green Empowerment (GE) is seeking a monitoring and evaluation intern to support development and
implementation of a monitoring and evaluation plan for Green Empowerment and partner NGO
AsoFenix project delivery for integrated community development projects in rural Nicaragua. This
person should be a highly motivated, independent, graduate-level student or recent graduate who
will carry out quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting for the Community
Empowerment Expansion Project (CEEP) in the Boaco region of Nicaragua. He or she will work under
the supervision of the GE Latin America Regional Director with direction from the Portland-based GE
Program Manager. Must be willing to travel to rural Nicaragua for a minimum of two weeks for M&E
data collection and training delivery. Unpaid. Some funding may be available to offset costs of travel.

Green Empowerment is a Portland-based non-profit that works with partners to provide access to
renewable energy and clean water in rural communities in Latin America and Asia. Green
Empowerment supports integrated projects that improve human well-being, are sustainable over
time, limit the impacts of climate change, and have the potential for broad impact beyond any one
community. Founded in 1997, GE works with a network of partners in Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru,
Colombia, the Philippines, Malaysia (Borneo) and along the Thai/Myanmar border.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Support development of a monitoring and evaluation framework (quantitative and
qualitative) for Green Empowerment and AsoFenix project delivery for integrated renewable
energy projects in El Jocote, El Balsamo, and El Jazmin, Nicaragua.
• Implement the monitoring and evaluation plan in conjunction with AsoFenix and with support
from Green Empowerment staff.
• Train and support AsoFenix and Green Empowerment personnel in developing, deploying,
and reporting on M&E plans.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
• Familiarity with logic models, logical frameworks, and best practices for monitoring and
evaluation of international development projects
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis
• Strong analytic and scientific writing skills
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently
• Spanish fluency
• Masters degree preferred
