Overview
As our Senior Vice President of Programs, you will be responsible for our global portfolio of healthcare programs and people, overseeing program development and technical support, shaping and managing all country operations, and attracting support from governments, multilateral organizations, major foundations and other partners. You will report directly to the President & CEO and will be a close colleague with other members of the Executive Team. All Country Directors and the Programs team in New York will report to you, along with various cross-functional teams.
We’re looking for a deeply passionate, experienced international development leader, who will champion our values, balance strategic thinking with operational excellence, drive growth of our programmatic portfolio, lead a high-performing team, and persistently push for superior quality in programming for women’s and children’s health.
Responsibilities
- Provide thought leadership and constant collaboration with the Executive Team to ensure the most effective and successful selection, design and implementation of healthcare programs and operations
- Deliver programmatic leadership, guidance, and input for strategy implementation, and ensure all program activities operate consistently and ethically with our mission, vision, and values
- Ensure programs are designed to maximize effectiveness, quality and impact
- Direct, lead and grow our CHAMPS portfolio, and ensure effective integration with our volunteer and medical donation programs
- Provide leadership into the implementation of budgetary systems and internal controls, manage budgets and meet all compliance and regulatory requirements for grants and programs
- Lead business development through resource identification and mobilization, including proposal development, for government, multilateral and major foundation grant opportunities
- Provide inspirational leadership and coaching to your team, and ensure they have clear goals and accountabilities, are high-performing and engaged in doing great work
- Everything else that it takes to live out our mission and keep a good sense of humor
Qualifications
You have 15+ years of management experience, some of which includes leadership of global maternal and child health and health systems strengthening programs. You also have a Master’s degree or commensurate experience in public health, international development, management, clinical or community health service delivery, or a similar field.
You speak the language of international public health, know the challenges and current issues, and approach them full of optimism, integrity and passion for creating real change. You know what you’re doing in proposal development and resource mobilization with government agencies such as USAID or CDC, with multilateral groups such as UNICEF, UNHCR or the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, with major foundations, and with other types of private donors and partners.
You have a well-established track record of solid, ethical business judgment, financial acumen and fiscal stewardship, and a proven ability to build trust, foster collaborative relationships and realize impactful relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders.
You’re relentlessly strategic, and have the ability to translate these skills into flawless operational plans, ensuring we have a competitive advantage and take advantage of best practices.
