PAY RATE:
The rate for this position is $18.02 per hour


This is a 12 Month – Union Position


FUNCTION:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives incoming phone calls regarding bus concerns; dispatches field security personnel to emergency situations and incidents in school and on school buses via two-way radio


Logs F.C.C. required transmissions and messages communicated via the two-way radio communications system


Maintains communication with fire, police, and emergency medical personnel


Reports to supervisors all emergencies and urgent calls


Maintains daily logs, which reflect activity of bus transportation in the district


Obtains incident numbers and communicates that information to investigators, security officers, administrators, and management when appropriate


Assists the public and directs to appropriate department or agency when situation does not merit Safety and Security services


Trains other dispatchers in the proper use of equipment and departmental regulations and policies


Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor


QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent


Ability to clearly enunciate all telephone conversations and messages


Ability to communicate effectively and make split-second decisions in high stress situations


Knowledge of proper procedure for receipt of emergency and non-emergency calls


General knowledge of the Cleveland area


Ability to operate any or all telephone and computer equipment within the CMSD Dispatch Communication Center


Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members, other CMSD safety agencies, and the general public


Successfully pass and complete a background check
