Maintenance Technician I - Harris County Department of Education - Houston, TX





Primary Purpose:
  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of building systems. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, HVAC, communications, and audio/visual systems. Pest control related to integrated pest management as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:


  • High school diploma or GED certificate, some college or industrial training on job related skills

  • EPA Certified for CFC Refrigerant Recovery

  • Maintain a Texas driver’s license, commercial driver’s license and a clear driving record

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge and skill to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and mechanical equipment

  • Knowledge and skill in troubleshooting and working with electrical equipment up to 277 volts

  • Knowledge of audio/visual equipment and the ability to do minor repairs

  • Knowledge and skill in painting and drywall installation or repair

Experience:

  • Minimum three years previous experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits and equipment.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and HVAC equipment.

  • Perform communication connections including data and voice.

  • Operate security alarm system.

  • Operate computerized management system.

  • Responsible for compliance with safety policy for self and other employees.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
