United States of America: Graphic Designer (Consultant)


The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has contracted through ZemiTek partnered with CAMRIS International, to recruit and hire qualified individuals for the following position:


Title: Graphic Designer (Consultant – Short Term Assignment)

BACKGROUND:


The Graphic Designer, under technical direction of the Trade Africa team, and in collaboration with the Africa Bureau Leadership, will be responsible for working with the Strategic Communications Consultant – Writer/Editor to lay out reports and other collateral as needed.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Using graphic design software, designs attractive publications and/or other reports per USAID branding guidelines

  • Works closely with Strategic Communications Consultant – Writer/Editor on project management and layout of Trade Africa annual report

  • Works with chosen printer to determine necessary document specifications, ensure design files are submitted on time and ensure quality printed product is delivered on time to Trade Africa team

  • Provides guidance to Strategic Communications Consultant and Trade Africa team on matters related to design/layout and printing

  • Works with various contacts to secure photography for report

Deliverables:


  • Designs and formats Trade Africa Annual Report: Produce graphic design format for the Trade Africa Annual Report consistent with the USAID branding guidelines.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER


EXPERTISE REQUIRED. The contractor must have:


  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, journalism, public relations or related area

  • Minimum 5 – 10 years’ professional experience in graphic design, including minimum 5 years’ publications design experience

  • Demonstrated experience in working with writers, editors and other stakeholders in putting together reports and publications

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite


  • Familiarity with USAID branding guideline a plus




  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team




  • Ability to plan, organize, and use time effectively; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within tight deadlines




  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound, independent, professional judgment




  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet applications; experience with social media and web content management tools a plus, as is experience with Google platforms




  • US Citizenship required
