This cross-cutting position supports business/program development initiatives. This position reports to the Director for Program Support & Monitoring of the International Division Group (IDG) and provides support as needed to senior technical and management staff involved in program development.


Overall Responsibilities:


  • Actively participate in the full business development (BD) cycle, from research, strategy, capture and the development of competitive bids.

  • Serve as proposal coordinator or manager on select opportunities.

  • Conduct background research to inform strategy and opportunity identification.

  • Serve is division liaison for BD across the organization, including cost and pricing, recruitment, BD and other technical divisions. Participate in regular BD meetings and maintain an accurate and updated divisional pipeline

  • Participate in drafting sections of proposals, including background, staffing, management, and past performance.

  • Work with all levels of staff at headquarters and in the field to write and update corporate capability statements.

  • Serve a point of contact for partnership discussions

  • Play an active liaison role with the recruitment team and participate in recruitment efforts

  • Proactively and routinely tap into intelligence through professional networks and portals to identify and develop partnerships between URC and other organizations and collect business intelligence

  • Facilitate, coordinate and ensure ongoing and effective communication among URC staff, external partners and collaborators throughout the proposal development process.

· Closely track upcoming opportunities and regularly update the IDG Business Development Tracker with new opportunities and progress on on-going bids.


Qualifications:


· Masters’ degree in public health (MPH), international relations, MBA or related field.


· Previous proposal/grant writing or business development experience working with USAID, CDC and/or government or foundation clients.


· Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills in English; high comfort level writing and presenting data and information in a compelling way to different audiences.


· Solid understanding of proposal budgets and budget development


· Ability to work effectively and thrive in a matrix management setting in a fast-paced environment, keeping in mind deadlines and necessary deliverables for colleagues or partnering organizations.


· Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work well independently and in teams.


· International “hands-on” work experience or long-term residence (e.g., Peace Corps) in developing countries preferred.


· Knowledge of and experience with one or more domestic and international public health issues such as malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS, maternal, newborn and child healthcare (MNCH) and/or family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH), monitoring and evaluation (M&E behavior change communication (BCC) and/or social marketing), desired.


· Strong computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat to produce and deliver high-quality, well-formatted proposal documents


· Fluency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese is desirable


· Ability and willingness to travel internationally about 25% of the time for 1 to 2 weeks at a time as part of proposal development.


· Ability to work in the United States without need for sponsorship
