File Clerk job - Department of Veterans Affairs - Tucson, AZ

This position reports to the Supervisory File Clerk in the Health Information Management Unit of the Business Service Line. The primary purpose of this position is to receive, index, and scan health and administrative documents in accordance with appropriate regulations and policy. The following are but not limited to the following list of duties: Receiving, indexing, and scanning of health and administrative information Interface with personal computer (PC) applications, scanning equipment as well as VA specific applications. Index scanned documents into a SQL database. Associate each scanned document with the correct patient’s electronic medical record, the appropriate document-named nomenclature, and electronically sign on chart scanned documents. Review and research numerous and voluminous medical reports from non-VA health care facilities. Make determination as to which documents are to be scanned and when necessary. Ensure that all necessary health/administrative information is inter grated into VISTA through PC scanning software. Review operational reports, discharge summaries and history and physical and ensure the required elements are present and documents have all required signatures. Analyze medical records of recently discharged inpatients and record medical record deficiency in incomplete record tracking packages.
