POSITION SUMMARY
The Bilingual Career Center Specialist is accountable for administering the day-to-day activities within the Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers (Goodwill SR) Career Center with the focus of assisting and providing resources to support Hispanic clients and assisting with special projects as defined by the Career Center Manager and Hispanic Services Manager. Responsibilities include aiding Hispanic individuals with online job searches, application completion, resume preparation, and interview skills. He or she will teach basic skill classes such as computer operations and resume writing, will assist with the preparation and hosting of job fairs, and will also be responsible for providing translation services to Spanish speaking clients, and organizing and/or participating in Hispanic- related events all with the goal of positively impacting and enhancing the job search and employability skills of the clients that Goodwill SR serves.
The ideal Bilingual Career Center Specialist has excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both English and Spanish, and has the ability to quickly and effectively develop a rapport with a wide variety of audiences.
This position is part time and will work at Goodwill SR’s Albany Career Center, located on N. Slappey Boulevard, with normal operating hours of Monday-Friday 9: 00am to 3: 00pm.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Greet and engage visitors and callers professionally both in English and in Spanish.
Obtain client information and be able to track it appropriately in the organization’s client management system. Information to document includes, but is not limited to: resources provided, job placement data, and notes on career progression and follow-up visits.
Play a role in the center’s Hispanic initiatives while collecting and reporting data for any grants.
Support opportunities to market and promote Career Center services to local employers, social service agencies, and government entities.
Lead Hispanic job clubs.
Coach, in a supporting and engaging manner, job seekers on resume development, interviewing, and job searching.
Assist with tax preparation and other financial focused services for both English &Spanish speaking clients, as needed.
Refer qualified Career Center clients to other Goodwill SR programs and resources, as appropriate.
Work collectively with the center’s other team members to advertise and promote job openings, financial services, and more to clients.
Stay current with all recruiting and job search practices, while sharing innovative market ideas with other team members.
Participate in outreach activities in the community, to engage and promote Hispanic services.
Teach ESL classes and other workshops tailored to Hispanic clients.
